As a practice focused on whole-child and whole-family wellness, we know that reading together is about so much more than books. It strengthens parent-child bonding, supports language development, improves school readiness, and helps children build lifelong skills from the very beginning.

Through Reach Out and Read, we will provide developmentally appropriate books during well visits and encourage families to make reading part of their daily routine. This nationally recognized program is endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and reaches millions of children each year.

The data behind this program is powerful:

Parents participating in Reach Out and Read are 2.5 times more likely to read with their children
Children’s language development improves by an estimated 3–6 months
Families are twice as likely to read together at least 3 times per week
More than 20 studies show improved early literacy and language outcomes for children involved in the program
